Hot Buttered Rum
It's Christmas time and that means everyone who comes to the house is offered hot buttered rum. Guests, family, friends, hookups, your drug dealer, your sketchy drug dealer that you keep secret from your usual drug dealer, your personal assistant, your travel veterinarian, the mail person, and everyone in between will thank you once they taste this.
If you haven't had it then you really should give it a try. Smooth, sweet, and luscious it's by and far one of the easiest cocktails to put together and yet always seems to amaze. Butter is whipped together with brown sugar and spices and then mixed with hot water and rum. Done and done.
I was actually introduced to this years ago back in college by a boy I was dating. He was duller than the backside of a spoon and only lasted three dates at best but my the boy had a knack for working with rum. It's probably why we even got to date three. He would yawn on about some sort of godwhogivesadamn but he would do so while preparing steamy sweet cups of rum. Once I had the recipe I stopped returning his calls. It was best for us both.
Today, as you now also know, I serve this recipe every Christmas. I've doctored it with a bit of orange and vanilla, which gives it a bit more oomph and cheer.
